Lift and drop bell

A four-column copper pavilion is mounted on the marble base. The eight feet of the square clock body are stuck in the straight slot opened in the copper column at the four corners of the clock pavilion, which becomes the track for the clock body to slide up and down.

The clock is unwound and powered by the clock's own gravity. It takes six days for the clock to rise from top to bottom, and then it is lifted up again and again.

This clock was made in 19th century France.
